As both a Kelowna Wedding Photographer and Kelowna Newborn Photographer, I often have the privilege of seeing my Wedding clients again when they add to their family. I am even more thrilled when those clients don’t live in the Okanagan and make a special trip just to see me. This was the case with Shonna, her mom and her beautiful new daughter Rayah, who was just over a month old.
The last time I saw Shonna, she was one of my Wedded Bliss Photography clients. She, and her handsome groom TJ, got married at the breathtakingly beautiful Elysium Gardens and Manteo Resort. It was a beautiful summer wedding and definitely not the winter Shonna and her baby were coming to for their new images.
Making the trip all the way from Calgary, the family made the trip for a very important portrait. Five Generations in one image. To get five generations in one image is a rare privilege and it means everyone needs to work around the oldest and youngest generations schedule.
The oldest generation, Agnes is 103. She is Rayah’s great, great grandma. Living at Abbeyfield House, Agnes, couldn’t leave her home, so I brought the Baby Bliss Photography studio to her. We all thought morning would give Agnes the best amount of energy and planned accordingly.
I crossed my fingers and toes and said a little prayer that everything would go as planned and I am so grateful it did. No planes were delayed, Agnes was awake and Rayah slept!
It was really powerful watching Agnes hold tiny little Rayah. She snuggled Rayah close, and so tenderly…like she was remembering a distant memory of a time when she held her own daughter.
The five generations together also spoke volumes about lives well lived, new generations moving forward and the family history that ties it all together.
Thanks to the staff of Abeyfield House for being so accommodating and allowing us to commandeer your living room!

Makes me happy to see my Great Grandmother, Grandma, Mom, Sister and Niece all in one photo.
It is very precious for me to see as I haven’t been home in awhile and miss all of them.
I am so glad that you were able to see so many people you love in one image Stephan. I hope you get to see them all soon!
