Doing Newborn Photography in Kelowna and Vernon, I hear  a lot of birth stories.  I love chatting with the moms and dads during their session about their experience and how the little one in front of me that I am photographing, came into the world.  As a mom myself, I can identify with many parts of each ones story.  I smile at the excitement of first seeing your baby, I empathize with the pain and longevity of some births and I love, if there are older siblings, hearing how big brother or sister responded to meeting their new baby.

With Kyrstal and Rob’s story, I was riveted by their birth story from the very first call I received from mom.

For those of you not from B.C., the summer here started out with one of the worst fires in our provinces history.  In a matter of hours, a fire, that no one thought posed much threat, reigned down terror on the town of Ft. McMurray.  And that’s where Krystal was about to give birth.

On a moments notice, and about to go into labour, Krystal, Rob and their little daughter Victoria, fled Ft. Mac with very little preparation.  Driving out of town, with fire on either side of the highway they had no idea if there home would be intact when it was all over.  They were then sent to a workers camp where there were no doctors and waited to be air vac’d to an Edmonton hospital, where thankfully, Krystal was able to safely give birth.

I can not imagine the stress Krystal and her family went through.  And I am so thankful I was able to capture little Ryan’s newborn photos while they were here staying with family in the Okanagan.

You have a handsome new son Krytal and Rob and I am so very happy for your new family of four!  Give Baby Ryan a big hug for me!
