I was super honoured to photograph Odin when I heard they were taking a special trip to see me so I could be his Salmon Arm Newborn Photographer.

For those of you who don’t know, in Germanic mythology, Odin is a widely revered god. He is associated with healing, royalty, knowledge, battle, and poetry . He is mentioned throughout recorded history of the Germanic peoples, from the Roman occupation through to the Viking Age. As a nod to his Viking ancestry…a friend of Odin’s mom and dad had a Viking outfit crocheted for him which of course we had to use in one of the images! Odin’s dad, Ryan, is a firefighter up North in Ft. McMurray and Odin’s mom, Carly was telling me that it was actually a firefighter that Ryan works with that had the prop commissioned for the occasion! Isn’t that just the sweetest!

Little Odin did a great job allowing us to dress him up in numerous adorable outfits. He was such a mellow little two week old. He definitely had some “requests” however when it came to positions he liked or didn’t like during his poses and I gladly obligated those requests. No one wants to make a little man with the name of Odin who has magical powers mad 🙂

We also had to pay homage to dad’s fire fighting profession in one of the images, plus dad’s favorite team, the Winnipeg Jets. Dad was unfortunately unable to attend the session as he is away up North this week, but I know he will love his little man in these set ups.
