Oh how this Vernon Baby Photographer ADORES Mr. Hudson!

Mom and dad, who value having the important moment in their lives captured by a professional photographer, have been working with me since they moved to Vernon just over a year ago.  At that time, they were expecting their second child, and they wanted me to be their Vernon Maternity Photographer and Vernon Newborn Photographer.  They had worked with Alli Peck, of Glow Portraits in Northern BC for their daughter, Isabel and now wanted to continue the tradition of capturing Hudson.

Having last seen Hudson and Isabel around Christmas, for some adorable Christmas images, I knew Hudson had been lovingly nicknamed “Mr. Serious” by his parents for a reason.  He is one hard peanut to get to smile. HOWEVER, even in all his seriousness, he is one of the cutest babes around.  I mean look at that hair!  You would think mom had taken him to the salon to have it streaked!

We were super excited to focus his one year session on a cake smash.  Mom ordered a gorgeous little three tiered cake from the Frosted Tier Cakes, here in Vernon.  I then set out to build a platform to support all the fun as I wanted to do the session, not at my studio in the Caetani Center, but rather outdoors to capture this beautiful time of year.

The balsam root is currently blooming all over our gorgeous hills and so Kekhuli Bay seemed like a perfect backdrop.

When the time arrived for the session, Hudson wasn’t entirely sure he wanted to smash a cake.  Thankfully mom knew that bananas were a fan favourite and brought one along for between the takes.  Most of the time Hudson is smiling…he has banana in his mouth 🙂

We even got big sister Isabel in on the fun to see if that would encourage some smashing, but in the end, some icing was eaten and the family got a lot of cake for dessert that evening.

Mr. Hudson, keep rocking that hair-do and your serious ways.  You are one awesome one year old!
