Vernon Newborn Photographer | Baby Colt

As a Vernon Newborn Photographer, I always find it so amazing how a little one’s name suits their personality.  Even when they are only 9 days old.

For this little man, his name is Colt.  He is the adorable son of Kyal and Kim, whose maternity session I photographed a few months ago.  Mom and dad both love all things Western; hence the boots and hat in one of his images but I also think they choose the name Colt because it instantly associates you with cowboys and beautiful, frisky wild horses.  And that’s exactly what Colt was the morning of his session.  A young, colt!

Under no circumstances did Colt want to go to sleep the morning of his session.  Of course he was booked in for a mini session, which is usually an hour and a half, and at that point in the session, he was still wide awake 🙂

It took an hour and a half of convincing, and some serious swaddling but I finally persuaded him!  You will notice in the first image, wide awake with wonder, but content.  The second image is his take on the situation.  He would go to sleep, but not without showing me who was boss!  He literally had all the fingers on his face when I posed him, and he worked it down to one.  Mom and I couldn’t stop giggling.

For mom Kim, the most important images were Colts’ little details; his ears, eyes, nose….she said years from now she wanted to look at his images and remember how he smells.  How sweet is that?

The cowboy hat and boots (belonging to mom and dad) were a requested image from grandma.

This little man is so loved!  Thanks Kim and Kyal for entrusting me to capture your little man.
