As a Vernon Photographer, specializing in newborn portraits, family portraits and maternity portraits, there is nothing more exciting than finally meeting a little one that you’ve had on your “due date” calendar for months.

I first met Ryan and Taya at a dear friends wedding last summer. The bride, was my children’s baby sitter, and her new sister in law was newly pregnant. She wasn’t telling anyone yet, so I didn’t know, but I was super excited when she emailed me a few months later to book a maternity session with me. We spent a lovely, but chilly afternoon in Kal Park capturing their beautiful maternity portraits and then we all waited patiently for their little one to arrive.

Although most thought their little one was going to be a girl, it was a good thing they had a really cool boy name picked out because they needed it.

Meet Wilder J. The cutest newborn with the old man hair line and coolest name going.

He even had the old man furrowed brow in many of his portraits but we softened those up a bit.

Wilder loved being swaddled and sunk into a deep sleep for our session. He was a rock star at posing and didn’t even fuss much during his outfit changes. I think he looks absolutely adorable in his grey little sandman outfit. It was a perfect choice for his tones of grey in his nursery. I hope they get a giant canvas of it for his wall.

Mom and dad are so smitten with their little man and I was so honoured I was able to capture this exciting and adventurous time in their families life.
