Vernon Photographer

It’s hard to know how to pen my thoughts as a Vernon Photographer in these uncertain times. I am very much aware that the world we were all living in a few short weeks ago is gone for a while.

Seeing the world change so much, I have likened it to hearing a doctor tell you you have a terrible disease. You are in shock and denial.

Two weeks ago, if you would have told me borders would be closed, major cities would be on lock down and flights would stop, I don’t think I would have believed you.

I see things so differently now.

My family was one of the families on vacation in Florida when the pandemic was announced. We changed our plans and were fortunate to get a flight home. We are now in self isolated quarantine and will be this way until it is announced by our government that is safe to do otherwise.

We don’t know the changes our world will see tomorrow, but today I am grateful for:

A yard my children can explore

Sunshine

A local grocery store that delivers all the food I have taken for granted

Access to the outside world via amazing technology

Friends and family we can Facetime

And most importantly our beautiful children; Jack and Ava.

I am so grateful that I was able to photograph them in the short time we were in Florida. I had planned and dreamt about this session for a few months and although it wasn’t photographed where I had expected I would; I am so grateful for the beautiful Spanish Moss and foliage of Florida.

Thanks to the amazing Whitney, of Little Dreamers Tutus for the incredible dress she crafted for our session. Ava felt like a bride wearing it!

I pray that a year from now; when I come back and read this post, that we are all going about our days with a little more gratitude for our ability to move freely around our communities.

Thank you to all the medical staff and grocery store employees who are keeping us moving forward during these difficult times. We are indebted to you.
