Vernon Photographer

As a Vernon Photographer, there are a number of life events that I absolutely love to document.  Maternity Portraits, Newborn Portraits, Family Portraits and Santa Portraits are among my favourites.  Each moment are such a milestone in a families life.  And each event has so much joy, love and emotion associated with them.

Santa Portraits have been a yearly tradition for my studio for the past 5 years.  I have a beautiful 100 plus year old cabin on my home property that each years sees more than a 100 families come and have a private audience with the big man himself.

This year with COVID, I knew in the summer that our plans to hold safe, yet fun, Santa portraits would need to look differently and started brainstorming what I could do.  I still wanted to keep the cabin as the central location, as all the children and parents feel like they are going to Santa’s house when they come.

So work began to build a giant 30×60 “tent” over top of the cabin so that Santa who was sitting inside the cabin, could be looking out the window, and my families could be outside; staying nice and dry; just in case of poor weather.

As it turns out, we needed the tent for a weekend of snow too.  Even though I saw most of the families in October this year (we only went into the first weekend of November) we got early snow which is really rare in October.  It was pretty magical though and all the kids felt like Christmas really was just around the corner!

There may not have been physical interaction with Santa this year, but the memories and emotions were still very much present and I am so thankful we had a wonderful season of Santa Portraits!
