This Vernon Photographer has been harassing the Acob family to come and get their family photos done for quite some time. And by harassing, I mean “encouraging them” as it was meant to be a gift for all their generosity over the years. They have four children, older than our two, and any time toys or clothes needed to be re-homed, we were often at the receiving end of their incredible thoughtfulness. My son Jack has a gravel pit FULL of trucks and diggers courtesy of the Acobs! I couldn’t think of a better way to thank them, than photographing all six of them. And talk about a gorgeous family!
I have known Heather, the mom of the family, for more than 15 years. We met when we were both teachers at Harwood Elementary here in Vernon and we instantly hit it off. Sleeping on the beach with her one night (at one of our professional development retreats) certainly helped. We learned all sorts of secrets about each other 🙂
Since then, I have watched Heather’s beautiful family grow and have been in awe of her and her husband, Cliff. They are fabulously talented at raising four considerate, polite and charming children. I am particularly honoured that one of their daughters is named Renée. In truth, I know it really doesn’t pay homage to me, but I like to think it does 🙂
We wanted to photograph them in the orchard next to my home, and without knowing when the sprayer was going to come to kill all the blossoms, (they do this a thinning spray) I was starting to get nervous if we would have any blossoms left by the weekend of their session. Thankfully for us, the tractor and spray showed up as we were finishing up the session. Talk about luck!
Thank you Acob family for being your generous, gorgeous selves. We love having you in our lives!
