When Tia first contact me about being her Vernon Family Photographer, she mentioned she would like to do their family session on the property their home sits on.  About a 20 mins. drive, south west of Vernon, along Okanagan Lake, their beautiful home is a photographers paradise.

With a creek, ponderosa pines, dusty trails, tall grasses and glimpses of Okanagan Lake; it was perfection.

Originally from Alberta; and new to Vernon within the past two years, Chris and Tia haven’t done family photos since moving here.  Chris works out of town so we had a limited amount of weekends to have everyone together.  We had our first rain (although VERY necessary due to the three months of drought and devastating fires our province has been experiencing) the day we were scheduled to work together which could have been an absolute disaster.  Thankfully however, because of Chris’s limited availability, we had the following day already scheduled as a back up.

It was also our scheduled weekend however, that little Sophie, 11 months old, was to have her first cold.

Poor Tia texted me the news and we were both a little worried how it would all work out.  Most often little ones with colds don’t fare so well. It dramatically affects their mood and tolerance in portraits.

Thankfully however, little Miss Sophie was an absolute gem.  Big brother Jaxson also lead the way with his positive attitude and great cooperation with his portraits.  With how it all worked out, I know these images will be ones the family will cherish for a lifetime.

Thanks for inviting me out to your beautiful paradise Chris and Tia!
