As Kelowna photographers, with clients from all over the valley, I am always honoured when a family entrusts me to capture their most precious memories and family milestones.

I often hear really amazing stories too of babies or children who have overcome some really difficult challenges in their short little lives.

This little girl, is no exception.

Like all expectant moms, mom Rachel emailed me early on in her pregnancy to enquire about my newborn services.  After a few emails, she booked me in early August of last year.  She and her husband were excitedly expecting their first baby December 22nd.  Little did we all know that at the beginning of September, at 24.2 weeks pregnant, Rachel would go into labour.  A labour that quickly got her air ambulance to Vancouver where her team of doctors desperately tried to stop her baby from being born.

Apparently little Natalie had different plans.  She wanted to meet her mommy and daddy so badly that she just couldn’t wait any longer.

Spending 105 days in Vancouvers incredible Woman’s Hospital NICU and Kelowna’s, NICU for 28 days; this little champion defied everyone’s expectations for her.  She is truly a miracle and I was SO excited to finally meet when she came to my studio recently.  Because of all the diseases and viruses floating around in the spring, doctors advised her staying inside as much as possible for the past few months, but as soon as she was cleared to head to the studio, I couldn’t wait to capture this beautiful little cherub.

Natalie, your story is an inspiration to all families facing a scary future.  I am SO thrilled I finally got to meet you and I can’t wait to capture your beautiful little smile and the twinkle in your eye again.
