Being a lifetime Vernon Resident and  a Vernon Newborn Photographer, I sometimes have the privilege of photographing clients that I have known for a very long time.

This past Saturday, I photographed beautiful Ainsley; almost two weeks old, and her older sister Simone.  We had already planned to do the session in two parts as dad wasn’t able to make the Saturday morning session and, because Ainsley was getting older, we wanted to do the session as soon as possible.

After some time in the studio, mom Alana said “I think my husband knows you”.  Of course, my reaction was….”What’s his name?”  Needless to say I was thrilled when I found out he was someone I had known since I was in elementary school and hadn’t seen in over 15 years.  Last I had heard he and his family were living in Victoria.  I started telling Alana all sorts of memories and stories and that I couldn’t wait till the following week when I could see him, give him a great big hug on photograph his beautiful family all together.

Well on Friday, I got to see Joel again for the first time since 1997 or ’98 and it was so much fun!

As Ainsley’s session was done all indoors, I thought it would be wonderful to contrast that with the family session by journeying out into a beautiful warm morning.  However, when we woke up this morning; it was anything but sunny.  It was rainy and cold and it wasn’t looking good for my vision.

Thankfully, the clouds broke for a bit, and with some warming blankets, Ainsley didn’t seem to mind the less than warm environment.  I am so glad we were able to convince her!  I LOVE  what we were able to capture.  In fact I think it is one of my favorite newborn family sessions and I am so thankful I got to get reacquainted with my old friend.

Joel, you are one lucky man.  What a beautiful family you have!  I can’t wait to post Ainsley’s studio newborn session soon!
