As a Vernon Photographer, photographing families, children and newborns, it is always so exciting when I get to photograph gorgeous fall portraits for dear friends!

I have known Dwayne ever since my Grade 12 year at V.S.S.    His group of guy friends, became friends with my group of girl friends and we then spent the next part of our 20’s having some pretty fun adventures.  Traveling Europe, house boating trips, trips to Lake Louise when many of our friends worked at the ski hill and many more crazy adventures!

Dwayne met Chantelle while doing missions work abroad and since then, they and their family have dedicated their lives to Youth With a Mission.  They are currently are on a 6 month sabbatical  from their ministry in Bali Indonesia.  While home, their children have been attending my sons school, Pleasant Valley Christian Academy  and it has been great getting to know the kids more.

Over the last few years, when they are home on vacation, we have tried to plan family portraits. This year, Chantelle really wanted to capture the beauty of autumn as that is something the children don’t get to experience in Indonesia!    It was a gorgeous day for photos.  A beautiful soft light hung over the valley and it was so fun working with everyone.

I especially loved capturing Dwayne and Chantelle’s great love for one another.  After many years of marriage there is an undeniable comfort and joy they find in each other.  Making them laugh wasn’t hard either (especially when the kids stepped in to make mom and dad laugh) and I loved capturing that spark!

It’s been so wonderful seeing this family over the past 6 months and we will be sad to see them go back home to Bali.  Maybe we will just have to go visit them 🙂
